The Atlanta Falcons are preparing for the start of the 2025 NFL regular season with a new approach to fan engagement. The team’s mailbag feature, which allows fans to submit questions to staff writers, will now be published twice weekly instead of once. Tori McElhaney will answer questions on Tuesdays, while Will McFadden will take over on Thursdays.
Fans can send their questions via Twitter or through an online form, and the team encourages participation throughout the season.
One question addressed was about running back Tyler Allgeier’s expected role alongside Bijan Robinson. McElhaney stated that last season’s workload split could continue, estimating a 70/30 division in favor of Robinson. She added that if the Falcons often have leads late in games, Allgeier might see his share increase closer to a 60/40 split. However, she noted that most of Allgeier’s opportunities would likely come in short-yardage or end-of-game situations when holding a lead.
Another topic discussed was the right tackle position following injuries to Kaleb McGary and Storm Norton. With Norton recovering from surgery and placed on injured reserve, McElhaney explained he would need to demonstrate readiness before returning as a starter. She pointed out that other players like Elijah Wilkinson or Michael Jerrell could establish themselves during Norton’s absence and may keep their positions if they perform well.
A fan also asked for predictions regarding individual player performances and whether the Falcons would make the playoffs this season. McElhaney responded: “Most sacks: James Pearce Jr. Most interceptions: Xavier Watts Most tackles: Kaden Elliss Playoffs?: Yes, because they need to.”
Questions about rookie Jalon Walker’s role were also addressed. McElhaney emphasized Walker’s versatility, referencing his usage at Georgia under Kirby Smart as both an edge rusher and linebacker. She said: “I have said from the moment Jalon Walker declared for the 2025 NFL Draft that you do not draft him solely as an edge rusher… It’s that creativity that warrants his value. It’s that creativity that I bet the Falcons tap into with Walker a lot sooner than we think.”
The Falcons are set for a busy season with ongoing adjustments both on and off the field as they prepare for their Week 1 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
