The Atlanta Falcons had a bye week during Week 5 of the NFL season, giving the team a chance to rest and recover. However, all other teams in the NFC South secured wins during this period, including the New Orleans Saints.

Elsewhere in the league, both previously unbeaten teams—the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles—suffered their first losses of the season. These results led to changes at the top of this week’s power rankings but did not significantly alter most teams’ positions.

Teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are showing strong performances, while others such as the Detroit Lions have continued to display offensive strength. The San Francisco 49ers delivered a decisive win against a highly ranked opponent for the first time this season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers returned from an overseas trip with a win and additional rest days before facing their next opponent. Meanwhile, questions remain about several teams’ consistency, including the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos.

For Atlanta, it is uncertain whether their bye week came at an ideal time. While key players may benefit from recovery time, there is concern that time off could disrupt momentum following their best offensive performance so far this year. The Falcons will face the Buffalo Bills on Monday.

As other teams prepare for upcoming matchups, franchises such as the Miami Dolphins face challenges due to injuries and recent losses. The New York Jets remain without a win this season.

“I don’t know what to make of the Ravens. They nearly beat some of the league’s top teams early, and save for a couple Derrick Henry fumbles, perhaps they would have. But they’ve been on a backslide that took them from being an unlucky team to… well… a team that lost by 34 to the one-win Texans.”

“Jury is out on whether or not a Week 5 bye was perfectly timed for Atlanta. On one hand, they should get some key players back from injury with the rest. On the other, the time off followed their best offensive performance to date. They can’t come out flat against a good Bills team on Monday.”

“Hey, lookie there. The Saints got their first win of 2025.”

The NFL landscape continues to shift as teams navigate injuries, unexpected outcomes, and schedule changes heading into Week 6.
