Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard has been named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played between September 1 and September 11, according to an announcement from the league. This is Howard’s second consecutive weekly award this season and the third such honor in her career.
During this period, Howard averaged 22.4 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game. She shot 50 percent from the field and 42 percent from three-point range, contributing to Atlanta’s undefeated record over five games in the final week of the regular season.
Howard’s standout performance came during a win against the Los Angeles Sparks on September 5, when she scored a season-high 37 points. In that game, she became the first player in WNBA history to make nine three-pointers in multiple games.
“This marks Howard’s second weekly honor of the 2025 season, her second in as many weeks, and the third of her career,” stated the WNBA.
With these achievements, Howard becomes only the fourth player in Atlanta Dream history to win multiple Player of the Week awards. She joins Allisha Gray as one of two active Dream players with more than one weekly honor.
Her recent performances helped Atlanta close out its regular season with a franchise-best total of 30 wins. The team secured the No. 3 seed for the upcoming WNBA Playoffs.
The Atlanta Dream will begin their playoff run with a best-of-three First Round series against the Indiana Fever. Game 1 is scheduled for Sunday, September 14 at Gateway Center Arena and will be broadcast on ABC at 3 p.m. ET.
The Atlanta Dream was established in Atlanta in 2008 and plays its home games at Gateway Center Arena @ College Park. Since joining the league, it has produced several All-Stars and made multiple playoff appearances.
