Cherokee swimmers head to state meet

County of Cherokee issued the following announcement on July 14.

The Cherokee County Aquatic Center and Cherokee Recreation and Parks hosted the GRPA District 5 Class A Swim Meet on June 26, resulting in nearly 60 Cherokee County swimmers qualifying for the District 5 Class A State Swim Meet.

Seventy-four Cherokee swimmers competed in the event last month, and 57 swimmers will now compete in the state event.

Head Coach Dusty Evans and Assistant Coach Allie Szatmary have been working with the swimmers since the district meet to make sure swimmers are ready for the challenge.

“We are so proud of these swimmers and can’t wait to watch them compete at the GRPA Class A State Meet this Friday and Saturday at the Cumming Aquatic Center,” said Cherokee Aquatics Division Director Kim Whatley. “We wish all of our Cherokee swimmers the best of luck.”

The following swimmers will compete in the District 5 Class A State Swim Meet: Aaliyah Schwegel, Allie Contreras, Asher Spratt, Bryce Edwards, Cal Wiley, Carson Portis, Cassedy Griffin, Chase Tieman, Chloe Dick, Colin Kennel, Connor Duncan, Connor Williams, Ella Wood, Ellie Grace Adams, Emily Walker, Eric Watkins, Evan Wiley, Genevieve McKinley, Gianna Williams, Grant Stephens, Ian Sweazey, Ivy Jenkins, Jacob Howell, Jaecob Franklin, Jake Guralnick, Justin Bolsen, Kaitlin Blankinship, Kennedy Noffsinger, Knox Cook, Lilly Windham, London DeJesus, Maddox Walkley, Natalie Matthews, Nate Allen, Nicole Waldo, Nino Raymond, Olivia Butcko, Patrick Paladines, Peyton Dick, Ryan Gorski, Sara Matthews, Shayne Wiley, Sky Caesar, Sophia Wood, Sophie Stephens, Sophie Windham, Stella Boilen, Sydeny Lewis, Trevor Kennel, Weslynn Donahue, Ximena Zapata and Zuzu Raymond.
