Patients in north Georgia who need lifesaving, emergency care will now be able to get that care even quicker than before at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) in Gainesville. Standing in front of NGMC’s new patient tower construction site in Gainesville on Jan. 11, Sen. Jon Ossoff held a press conference to announce funding that supports NGMC’s trauma services.

Northeast Georgia Health System will receive $2.1 million of appropriated congressional funds to help with construction costs for a rooftop helipad on the new patient tower, as well as a dedicated trauma elevator that connects the helipad to lifesaving services. NGMC’s current helipad in Gainesville is on the hospital’s campus but is still a short ambulance ride away from the emergency services patients need.

The bipartisan support Ossoff announced will allow NGMC to provide better access to care in its regional trauma center, cardiac catheterization labs and operating rooms.
