Washington, D.C. (March 22, 2024) - Rep. Barry Loudermilk, Chairman of the House Administration Committee’s Oversight Subcommittee, has released a transcribed interview conducted by the January 6 Select Committee with President Trump's valet, who was in close proximity to the President on January 6, 2021. In response to the release, Rep. Loudermilk emphasized the importance of transparency, stating, "I care about getting the truth out there, instead of only releasing parts that support a partisan narrative like the Select Committee did."
During the transcribed interview, the valet provided key insights into President Trump's actions on January 6. Contradicting previous testimonies, the valet stated, "I don't remember any comments from the President or anybody on staff" regarding chants to "Hang Mike Pence." Additionally, the valet testified that President Trump had no pre-determined plan to go to the Capitol and was unaware of any Secret Service exploration for such a visit.
Furthermore, the valet revealed that President Trump made efforts to communicate with Speaker Pelosi and General Milley to deploy the National Guard and secure the Capitol. The valet recalled, "What I remember about the National Guard was him wanting to talk to General Milley and Speaker Pelosi about the National Guard."
The release of this transcript sheds new light on the events of January 6 and provides a different perspective than what has been previously reported. Rep. Loudermilk's commitment to transparency aims to allow the American people to form their own conclusions about the events of that day.
