Falcons secure last-minute win over Eagles in Week2

PHILADELPHIA — The Atlanta Falcons secured a narrow 22-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday at Lincoln Financial Field.

The game, part of the 2024 season, was detailed quarter by quarter. Atlanta won the coin toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff from Philadelphia.

In the first quarter, Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins faced challenging field positions, starting drives at their own 8- and 9-yard lines. Both drives consisted of five plays each but did not result in any points. Atlanta struggled with third-down conversions, going 0-for-2. The Eagles also failed to convert on third downs, ending the quarter scoreless.

Running backs Bijan Robinson for the Falcons and Saquon Barkley for the Eagles were notable performers early on. Robinson had five carries for 33 yards, while Barkley had five carries for 40 yards.

The second quarter saw both teams putting points on the board. The Falcons scored first with a 39-yard field goal by kicker Younghoe Koo after failing to convert a third-and-9 play. The Eagles responded with an 11-play drive culminating in a touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts to DeVonta Smith.

Atlanta's next drive ended with another field goal from Koo after they reached the Eagles' red zone but could not score a touchdown.

The third quarter began with the Falcons regaining the lead through another field goal by Koo. However, the Eagles quickly responded with a field goal of their own to take back a one-point lead. Atlanta then scored its first touchdown of the game with a deep pass from Cousins to Darnell Mooney but failed on a two-point conversion attempt.
