With this win, the Falcons now lead the NFC South after Week 5, surpassing the Buccaneers. Justin Simmons emphasized its importance: "You don't want to let these games get away from you because down the road, things get so tight in the race to the playoffs." Kirk Cousins played a pivotal role by achieving 509 passing yards and throwing four touchdowns to three different receivers. The decisive play was a 45-yard touchdown pass to KhaDarel Hodge.

The Falcons started their series of three consecutive divisional games with a victory over the New Orleans Saints last Sunday and followed up with Thursday's win against Tampa Bay. Both matches were decided by final plays—a game-winning field goal and an overtime touchdown.
