FOIA Request Sent to Cherokee County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

FOIA Request to Cherokee County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NW Atlanta News have submitted a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., for records detailing the methods being used by the department to count votes in the upcoming election.

Specifically, we have asked for information on whether the counting process is manual or automated. If it is manual, we requested an estimate of the number of people who will be working on election night to handle this crucial task.

Our goal as a news organization is to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public. Access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that understanding the vote-counting process will help shed light on how our democratic processes are conducted and ensure their integrity.

We continue to seek ways of keeping our readers informed about their local government's activities and remain committed to delivering accurate and timely news. As always, we appreciate any assistance in obtaining this information.
