A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Pickens County Election Department in Georgia on October 29, 2024. The request was made by NW Atlanta News, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs.
The request specifically asked for a list of methods used by the department to count votes. If manual counting is being employed, NW Atlanta News also requested an estimated number of people who would be working on election night.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at NW Atlanta News believe that access to such records is crucial. These records will allow us to provide the public with clear and precise information about the election process in their area.
We also requested a fee waiver as a media professional involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. This waiver would help facilitate our mission of holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
The FOIA request is currently pending response from the Pickens County Election Department. We remain committed to bringing you updates as they become available.
