The Atlanta Falcons are in the process of finding a new defensive coordinator following the departure of Jimmy Lake on January 11. Lake served with the team for one year. As part of this search, updates will be provided on interviews and interview requests.

Jeff Ulbrich was interviewed on January 15. He previously served as interim head coach for the New York Jets in 2024 and was their defensive coordinator from 2021 to 2024. His earlier experience includes roles with the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020, where he was promoted to defensive coordinator during the season after Dan Quinn's departure.

Steve Wilks is scheduled for an interview next week, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Wilks most recently worked as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers in 2023. His past positions include various coaching roles with the Carolina Panthers and a stint as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals in 2018.

Don "Wink" Martindale had his initial interview on January 14 and is expected to meet with the Indianapolis Colts afterward, as reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Martindale currently serves as a defensive coordinator at the University of Michigan and has held similar positions with several NFL teams, including the New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens.

Lou Anarumo also had an initial interview reported on January 14 by Albert Breer. Anarumo was formerly a defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals until late last year and has previous coaching experience with both Miami Dolphins and New York Giants.

The Falcons' editorial staff aggregates reports from select reporters about interview requests without confirmation from the team.
