The College Football Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 class, which includes former Atlanta Falcons players Michael Vick and Alex Mack. The announcement was made on Wednesday, recognizing a total of 18 players and four coaches for their contributions to college football.
Michael Vick earned his place in the Hall of Fame due to his outstanding performance at Virginia Tech University from 1999-2000. As a redshirt freshman, he led the Hokies to an undefeated regular season and a national championship game appearance in 1999. He followed this with another strong season in 2000, culminating in MVP honors at the Gator Bowl. His college career statistics include holding multiple records at Virginia Tech and finishing with over 3,000 passing yards and more than 1,200 rushing yards.
"Michael revolutionized the quarterback position with his combination of speed, accuracy, and big, strong arm," said Frank Beamer, former Virginia Tech head coach. "He inspired a new generation of dual-threat quarterbacks."
Vick's professional career spanned 13 years in the NFL with notable performances for teams such as the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles. He became the first quarterback to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single NFL season.
Alex Mack's contribution to football is recognized both on and off the field. During his time at the University of California from 2005-08, he helped lead his team to four bowl victories. In addition to his athletic achievements, Mack won the Draddy Trophy for academic success combined with football performance.
"Alex Mack is what an elite student-athlete and tremendous person should be all about - on the field, in the classroom and in his community," stated Jeff Tedford, former Cal head coach.
Mack played professionally as one of the top centers in the NFL with significant stints at Cleveland Browns and Atlanta Falcons before retiring after playing for San Francisco 49ers.
Both athletes will be officially inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame during an awards dinner on December 9th. Their accomplishments will also be showcased at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame located in Atlanta.
