West Mineral Man In Custody Following Standoff

Arrested

Cherokee County Sheriff's Office recently issued the following announcement.

Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputies securing scene following standoff.

A West Mineral man is in custody on numerous felony charges after Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to his home on Northwest 70th just before 6:00 a.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic disturbance.

As deputies arrived at the residence, they learned 46-year-old Larry Overman was reportedly armed inside the home refusing to allow an adult female and numerous children to leave.

Deputies approached the home and the woman and several children, including an infant, fled from inside.  Overman however, remained armed inside with several other kids.

At times during the nearly hour and half standoff, with his children nearby, Overman is alleged to have threatened law enforcement with a rifle.  He was eventually taken into custody and transported to the Cherokee County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $239,000.00 bond on allegations of Domestic Battery, multiple counts of Aggravated Child Endangerment, Kidnapping and Assault on Law Enforcement.
