Cherokee High School recently issued the following announcement.

More than 50 high school students spent the day sharpening their workforce skills recently thanks to a new venture created by CCSD and community partners.

Cherokee County School District held a Career Technical Instruction Employability Fair on March 22 for nominated students from all six Cherokee County School District high schools.  The event provided the 57 attendees with seminar style instruction on employability skills for students who plan to seek competitive employment after graduation. The event included both Cherokee County School District staff as well as several community partner volunteers from the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, Goodwill, and Universal Alloy Corporation to speak on skills such as interviewing, how to dress for success, resume writing, and professional social media etiquette.  Additionally, each student participated in a mock interview to practice their skills.

The event concluded with lunch donated by Cherokee County Chick fil A for all participants.  Students, CCSD staff, and Cherokee County Community Partners all agreed this event was extremely valuable for students and rewarding for each volunteer.
