The City of Woodstock’s July 4th Spectacular takes place on Monday, July 4th, 2022. Celebrations include a downtown road race, parade, and festival as well as fireworks in the area of Highway 92 and I-575.
Main Street will close at 7am for the 25th Annual Freedom Run. Since 1996, the Freedom Run has been the kickoff for festivities celebrating Independence Day in Woodstock. The race includes a 5K, a 1 Mile race, and a Tot Trot. Runners and walkers will meet at the former Ace Hardware parking lot before 7am to pick up race numbers and t-shirts. The race will begin on Main Street near the intersection with Rope Mill Road and the finish line will be on East Main Street near the train depot. The 5K will begin at 7:15am, the 1 Mile Race will begin at 8:15am, and the Tot Trot will begin at 8:30am. Roads are scheduled to reopen at 8:45am.
The July 4th Spectacular Parade begins at 10am at Woodstock Elementary School and will travel down Rope Mill Road to Main Street, then south on Main Street to the Sam’s Club near Highway 92. Main Street will be closed from 9:45am until 11:30am. The parade will take place rain or shine unless there is inclement weather. There will be a special performance by Miss Georgia 2019 Victoria Hill at the grandstand near the intersection of Main Street and Mill Street before the start of the parade. State Champions Woodstock High School Baseball Team will serve as the Grand Marshalls of the parade. This year’s float contest will include Best Holiday, Most Original, History & Heritage, People's Choice, and a new category, Most Spirited Golf Cart.
Following the parade, gather in The Park at City Center at Arnold Mill Road and Towne Lake Parkway for a family-friendly festival. The festival takes place until 3pm. There will be food, games, arts and crafts, music, and vendors of all kinds.
The day will conclude with a fireworks celebration that begins at dusk behind the Lowes Shopping Center at Highway 92 and I-575. New this year, the city will provide FM programming for those in the area of the fireworks display. Patriotic music and interviews with special guests will be broadcast on FM channel 101.3. The broadcast is presented by Visit Woodstock GA and emceed by MesmerEyes Media.
Star Spangled Woodstock t-shirts are available at the Woodstock Visitors Center in sizes for the entire family. The shirts are available in grey and navy. Adult sizes small to 2XL are $20 and youth sizes small to large are $12. The Woodstock Visitors Center is located at 8588 Main Street and is open Monday to Saturday 10 am to 5 pm including July 4th.
