Creekview High School issued the following announcement on August 09.
Creekview Aeronautics' drone team has placed 3rd at the 2021 UAS4STEM (Drone) Search and Rescue Nationals at AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI. It is the highest finish for Creekview in its history in the competition (2015). Team members include captains Michael Pena and Johnny Schaly, Pilots, Noah Clary, Dylan Cox, and Nigel Gallagher, Ground control and crew Bella Giuliano, Christian Richards, and Emerson Shi.
The contest requires students to build, program and fly a drone capable of capturing GPS locations of targets as well as delivering items to targets autonomously from altitude. The students advanced to this year's finals at AirVenture by way of a virtual regional earlier in the spring.
Additionally Michael Pena won an individual award for exhibiting strong leadership and teamwork.
