CCSD Publishes Fourth Annual Comprehensive Financial Report

10

Cherokee County School District recently issued the following announcement.

The Cherokee County School District has published its fourth Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, an optional additional level of transparency considered the gold standard in government financial reporting.

Compiled by Chief Financial Officer Kenneth Owen and the Office of Financial Management, the 2021 fiscal year report presents financial records already created by CCSD, such as budgets, audits and management reports, in one consolidated publication designed for the community as a whole to better understand their school district’s finances.  The new report, as well as numerous other financial and operational records, all are housed in the Open CCSD transparency section of CCSD’s website.

Last year, CCSD for the first time earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Financial Officers Association for its 2020 fiscal year report – which is the highest recognition awarded for governmental accounting and financial reporting.

“Completion of this additional optional annual report, which takes significant time and expertise to compile, provides another demonstration of our long-standing commitment to transparency and accountability,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said. “The School Board and I greatly appreciate the dedication of Mr. Owen and his staff to our shared responsibility for strong stewardship of the resources taxpayers entrust to us for the benefit of our community’s children.”
