The Holidays are Here in the City

City of Canton issued the following announcement on November 12.

It’s beginning to look a lot like the holiday season in the City of Canton! Lights are being strung, ornaments carefully placed, and events planned to welcome you for all the holiday festivities!

DOWNTOWN CANTON

Holiday Open House, Nov. 13, from 1-5 p.m.

The holidays are the season of giving, so what better to give your loved ones than gifts from local businesses? This Sat., Nov. 13, from 1-5 p.m., Downtown Canton and The Mill on Etowah welcome you into the many shops, restaurants, and boutiques for a Holiday Open House! Participating businesses will feature holiday specials and light refreshments will be served. You can also register at each location for a chance to win a holiday gift basket. Follow Downtown Canton GA on Facebook for all the Holiday Open House participating businesses. 

Tree Lighting Ceremony, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m.

Bask in the glow of Downtown Canton at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m., in Cannon Park. The City’s 25-foot Christmas tree has been adorned with ornaments and now just needs the final touch of twinkling lights. Knox Elementary Chorus and Teasley Middle Chorus will be performing for the ceremony, and Cherokee High School Beat Out Cancer Club will be offering hot chocolate for donation. Join in for a merry and bright time. 

Holiday Market & Parade, Presented by the Canton Optimist Club, Dec. 4, from 12-8 PM

The Canton Optimist Club presents a Holiday Market and Parade on Dec. 4 in Downtown Canton. Shop for holiday gifts amongst the 15 market vendors around Cannon Park, as well as in the Downtown shops from 12-8 p.m. Santa will make a virtual appearance in the park gazebo from 3-5 p.m. The parade fun starts at 6 p.m. and will feature classic cars, carolers, and floats! Don't miss this holiday extravaganza! 

Christmas in Canton, Dec. 10, from 6-9 p.m.

The holidays will be in full swing for the Christmas in Canton celebration. On Dec. 10, from 6-9 p.m., young, old and all in between are invited to visit with Santa, enjoy a feature showing of Polar Express, hop on a train ride through Downtown, make s’mores around a warm bonfire, and so much more! Stores in Downtown will be open extended hours for all your Christmas shopping needs.

Visit with Santa, Dec. 11 & 18, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Dec. 11 and 18, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on each date, you can visit with the jolly ole’ fella himself at the Cannon Park Gazebo in Downtown Canton. Bring your Christmas wish list and your camera to capture the magic. 

HISTORIC CANTON THEATRE

Feature Showing: Farmer and the Belle, Nov. 21, at 3 & 7 p.m.

The Historic Canton Theatre in Downtown Canton has created schedule of events full of holiday cheer. First up, a feature showing of “The Famer and the Belle” on Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. and at 7 p.m. Starring Jen Gotzon and John Schneider, this is a holiday film for the whole family! Tickets are $5 and will be sold in person at the Canton Theatre Box Office Nov. 18 and 19 from 12-4 p.m. and 1 hour before the show begins.

Feature Showing: White Christmas, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m., Sponsored by T-Mobile

The holiday classic “White Christmas,” starring Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney, will grace the big screen on Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. thanks to sponsor T-Mobile. Tickets are $2 (limit of 8) online and in person at the Canton Theatre Box Office. Concessions are complimentary, and Santa will be available for pictures following the film. 

Play Production: A Christmas Carol, Dec. 4-19

Cherokee Theatre Group will bring a classic adaptation of the Charles Dickens tale “A Christmas Carol” to the Canton Theatre stage Dec. 4-19, various times. More information, times, and tickets are available at http://www.cherokeetheatre.org.

Feature Showing: Elf, Dec. 21, at 7p.m., Sponsored by T-Mobile

Wrapping up the holiday season in the City is a feature showing of the hilarious holiday movie “Elf,” Dec. 21 at 7 p.m.  Thanks to our sponsors at T-Mobile, concessions will be complimentary, and Santa will be available for pictures following the film. Tickets will be on sale Dec. 9, both online and in person at the Canton Theatre Box Office.
