Alcovy High School recently issued the following announcement.

Starting on Monday March 21, Alcovy will begin to use their testing/ block schedule for the remainder of the school year. Students will go to their odd classes of 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th period classes on Monday, Wednesday, and every other Friday. Students will go to their even classes of 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 6th period classes on Tuesday, Thursday, and every other Friday. This Friday March 25 will be an odd day. A copy of the schedule is available to view on Alcovy’s website.

As a reminder, students that are currently enrolled in Algebra I, Biology, American Literature, or US History will be required to complete the End of Course assessment for these courses. As an additional reminder the End of Course assessment is state administered and accounts for 20% of the grade in these courses.

End Of Course Edgenuity credit recovery courses (Algebra I, Biology, US History, and American Literature) must be completed by April 1st, 2022. Seniors who do not make this deadline will be at risk of not graduating. For Seniors that are currently enrolled in non-End of Course Edgenuity credit recovery class, the date of completion is May 6th, 2022. For Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors that are currently enrolled in non-End of Course Edgenuity credit recovery class, the date of completion is May 18, 2022.  

Advanced Placement Night will be March 24 in the auditorium at 6:30 pm for students and parents that are interested in Advanced Placement course.

Title I Night will be Thursday March 24 at 10:30 am and 6:00 pm via Zoom. To attend please go to the following link http://bit.ly/Title_Revision_2022.

The Newton County School System will offer free SAT Prep sessions on March 26, April 16, and April 30 from 8:30 am to 2 pm at the Newton College and Career Academy. The window to register is March 14 thru March 21. To register please go to https://forms.gle/pZ967oDLNKs1Kefc6.

Mrs. Mask and Ms. Sims will be in the commons area before school and during lunch to assist students with completing The Light Up the Night Prom registration and accessing gofan.co to purchase tickets. Mrs. Mask and Ms. Sims will be there from Tuesday to Friday starting March 15 until April 1.

Golden Diamond Dance Team tryouts will be March 21 thru March 25 from 3:30 pm until 6:30 pm in the gym at Alcovy. If there are any questions please contact either Coach Durden or Coach Buggs.

The varsity baseball team will play on Tuesday March 22 at Lakeside-Evans at 5 pm and Friday March 25 at Alcovy versus Lakeside at 4 pm and 6:30 pm. 

The varsity soccer teams will be in action on Monday March 21 at Alcovy versus Salem, Tuesday March 22 at Walnut Grove, and Friday March 25 at Grovetown. The girls play at 5:30 pm and the boys at 7:30 pm. 

The track team will participate in a track meet on Friday March 25 at 4:00 pm at Jefferson High School. 

The golf team will be in competition on Monday March 21 versus Monticello, Tuesday March 22 versus Heritage, and Thursday March 24 versus Monticello.Cheerleader tryouts will take place from March 28 thru April 1 from 3:30 pm until 6:30 pm. There will be a parent and student interest meeting on March 22 at 6:30 pm.
