Applications to Allocate Tax Dollars to NGMC Lumpkin Now Open

Through the Georgia Rural Hospital Tax Credit Program, individuals and businesses can choose to use their state income tax to support increased access to health care by designating those dollars to Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Lumpkin. Identified as one of the hospitals with the highest financial need in Georgia by the Department of Community Health, NGMC Lumpkin and the entire northeast Georgia region will benefit from this program in a meaningful way.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 3, there are a few ways to allocate these dollars to directly support NGMC Lumpkin, and in turn, the entire region:

  • Individual filers may allocate up to $5,000 of their state income tax.
  • Married filers may allocate up to $10,000 of their state income tax.
  • Pass-through businesses may allocate up to 75% of their state income tax.
The quick and easy application can be submitted through the Georgia HEART (Helping Enhance Access to Rural Treatment) website at georgiaheart.org. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and with a funding cap of $75 million, available funds go quickly.

With Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) planning to break ground later this year on a new NGMC Lumpkin campus along GA-400, these tax dollars mean easier access to care for this region, including around-the-clock emergency care, and many other services.
